The Albertina counts with approx. 1.2 million works of art to the large museums of art from the 15th. century to the present. The collection is divided into the graphic collection ( 9,500 drawings and Print graphics ), in the art of modernity ( 20,000 paintings, drawings, prints, sculptures and Posters from 1870 to 1945 ), contemporary art ( 65,000 paintings, sculptures, videos, installations, Drawings and prints after 1945 ), the photo collection ( 100,000 prints and historical ones Apparatus from 1839 to the present day ), the architecture collection ( 60,000 plans, drawings and models from 15. Century to today ) as well as the collection of the historical furnishings of the palace ‘ ( 250 furniture, Paintings, sculptures ).
The museum has become a historic palace with its two locations – in recent years at Albertinaplatz and the Albertina MODERN on Karlsplatz – on an exhibition area of 8,000 m ² expanded.
Core tasks are preservation, expansion, scientific development, presentation and conveying the collection through the use of the available ideal and material means Museum regulations and federal museum law 2002 i.d.g.F.
Tasks include:
- the overall personnel, scientific, artistic and organizational management as well as the Representation to the outside,
- the contemporary strategic direction of the Federal Museum and its conceptual Further development taking into account current social, scientific and technical developments ( e.g. Digitization and inclusion ) and the economic Framework conditions and earnings opportunities,
- Planning and implementation of exhibitions and innovative educational and Event programs that should also appeal to those ( local ) audience groups who do not yet make use of the museum offer,
- contemporary design of organizational and personnel development, especially in the scientific areas and art education,
- Exercise of management responsibility for all employees of the Albertina,
- Positioning and networking of the Albertina both nationally and internationally.
In terms of the social responsibility of leading cultural companies, beyond In the future, topics such as sustainability in the use of resources, fairness or compliance play a more important role.
We are looking for a dynamic personality with a high level of professional and social competence, which the Communicating the cultural and social importance of the Albertina collections as part of one understanding comprehensive museum mandate and the Albertina understands content and conceptually in the future leads.
The following knowledge and experience are expected in particular:
- completed university studies in a relevant subject, preferably from the art or cultural studies area or proof of comparable knowledge
- extensive knowledge of art history and theory with a focus on the area the core competencies of the Albertina as well as relevant scientific competence and Publication activity
- successful organizational management of a museum or cultural institution that has a comparable size and cultural-political importance to the Albertina
- demonstrable experience in the conception, organization and implementation of exhibitions
- Development and implementation of innovative placement programs according to international ones Standards
- Experience in dealing with artists, art universities, art collectors, lenders, Gallery owners, sponsors, with the public and the media
- excellent networking in national and international cultural life as well as experience in Processing of European and non-European cooperation projects
- proven experience in personnel management, high communicative and integrative competence
- Experience in the application of business processes and in the acquisition of third-party funds
- Creativity and special commitment in the expansion of the area of development and sponsorship
- Knowledge of foreign languages, especially fluent English
