Paid Position | Organization: Stichting BAK, basis for contemporary art
Role: Senior Communication Specialist
Location: Utrecht
Hours: 24 hours

BAK, basis for contemporary art, has been a leading international visual arts institution since 2000, situated in Utrecht. It operates at the intersection of contemporary art and society.
BAK is a foundation for art that’s not just about “making things,” but about “making things happen.” How can art and artists contribute to societal change? With this mission in mind, BAK brings together art, knowledge/science, and politics to reshape the world with the audience. This is achieved by combining public programming and exhibitions with research, education, knowledge sharing, and talent development.
BAK receives ongoing subsidies from the Ministry of OCW and the Municipality of Utrecht. Besides its role as a presentation institution, BAK has uniquely combined this role with that of a post-academic institution since 2017. Each year, a group of artists, scholars, curators, and activists from around the world are selected as BAK Fellows. They develop and execute their research projects at the intersection of art and society within BAK.
