Role Overview
The Singapore Art Museum is seeking an experienced Senior Curator to lead curatorial initiatives focused on contemporary art from Singapore. The role involves curating collections and exhibitions, conducting research, developing curatorial scholarship, and contributing to strategic and management activities at the museum.
Key Responsibilities
- Curatorial Leadership: Curate exhibitions and collections in contemporary art, emphasizing regional and international art practices.
- Research and Scholarship: Develop specialized research to support museum policies on collection, publications, and exhibitions.
- Mentorship: Supervise and guide junior curators in exhibition planning, program development, and professional growth.
- Thought Leadership: Share expertise in the field through conference presentations, talks, and publications.
- Exhibition Management: Oversee all aspects of exhibitions from conceptualization to collaboration with external institutions, managing logistics, and coordinating with museum teams.
- Program Development: Collaborate on museum programs like lectures, workshops, and provide content for digital and promotional materials.
- Networking: Build and maintain relationships with artists, collectors, patrons, and other cultural stakeholders.
- Project Oversight: Manage and supervise projects, ensuring adherence to processes, policies, and timelines.
Candidate Requirements
- Education: Post-graduate degree in art history or a related field.
- Experience: Approximately 10 years of curatorial experience, ideally in a museum setting.
- Skills: Strong expertise in contemporary art, excellent research, writing, and interpersonal skills, with fluency in English (additional languages are advantageous).
- Leadership: Ability to lead and inspire a team, contribute to museum strategy, and manage complex projects with attention to detail.
- Project Management: Competence in managing multiple projects effectively.
