Tai Kwun Contemporary is seeking a Senior Curator to support the Head of Art in shaping long-term programming strategies and advancing the institution as a leading contemporary art centre in Asia.
The Senior Curator will conceive, develop, and curate contemporary art exhibitions for Tai Kwun, while contributing to extension programmes that deepen audience engagement. The role requires up-to-date knowledge of global developments in contemporary art to complement the Art Department’s expertise in Chinese and Asian contemporary art, ensuring a balanced and dynamic annual programme.
Key Responsibilities

Support long-term curatorial strategy development

Conceive and curate contemporary art exhibitions and related public programmes

Liaise with artists on public outreach and commissions, including planning, production, launch, and communication

Collaborate with the Exhibition Management Team on development, implementation, and potential touring of exhibitions

Provide curatorial input to communications, marketing, development, publications, learning, and operations teams

Maintain and develop partnerships with artists, external organisations, and curators

Explore international collaboration opportunities

Support alignment of programming with sponsorship and philanthropic opportunities
Requirements

Degree in Art History, Art, Cultural Management, or related discipline

Minimum 10 years of curatorial experience, with a demonstrable record of successful contemporary exhibitions

Proven project management experience with strong attention to detail and deadlines

Strong leadership and team management skills

Advanced communication skills, including public speaking and media engagement

Excellent written and spoken English; Chinese language skills are an advantage

Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint)

Knowledge of artwork handling and conservation
