The Institute for Contemporary Art at VCU invites applications for the Senior Curator position. The ICA supports the art of our time and provides an open forum for dialogue and collaboration across the region and throughout the world. Regarded as a vibrant place to work, where discovery is valued and differences are celebrated and embraced, the university plays an integral role in the vitality of its home city of Richmond, Virginia. VCU and the ICA are fully focused on equality and believe deeply in diversity of race, gender, sexual orientation, religion, ethnicity, national origin and all the other characteristics that make us different.

The Senior Curator will commission, develop, oversee and implement the exhibitions and programs for the ICA. The position will be responsible for commissioning new work and working with living artists, as well as championing and stewarding projects through ideation, the full production process, and exhibition. Forging and maintaining effective working relationships with a variety of stakeholders, board members, vendors, and ICA staff will also be a critical responsibility. The Senior Curator will support, supervise, and evaluate several staff members, which may include a curatorial assistant and interns, and interact with students, faculty, donors, volunteers, and the public
