Glasgow Life is seeking a Senior Museums Manager (Collections & Programming) to join the senior management team and lead the care and management of one of Europe’s finest civic collections. The role involves overseeing Glasgow’s collection of over five million items, ensuring access to the museum and library collections, archives, and delivering a wide range of public and commercial programs.
This position will also support the delivery of major capital projects, including at the People’s Palace, in collaboration with Glasgow City Council.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead and manage Glasgow Life’s museum collections and public programming.
- Ensure the strategic management and development of the collections.
- Work with international partners and manage significant projects.
- Increase community-led initiatives and engagement with the city’s cultural heritage.
The Ideal Candidate
- Experience with major museum collections and a strategic understanding of collections management.
- Ability to manage and motivate complex teams.
- Excellent communication skills with internal and external stakeholders.
- Strong problem-solving abilities and adaptability to change.
- Relevant degree or industry qualification and experience managing complex workloads.
