The Virginia Museum of Fine Arts (VMFA) is seeking a self-starter with excellent project management skills to join the Exhibition Planning Department as Senior Project Manager, Exhibitions.
This position works collaboratively to develop and implement major exhibition projects, manage overall project schedule, checklists, publications, on-site and venue coordination, and other related activity. This position reports to the Director of Exhibition Planning and Publications, and supervises 2-4 employees depending on project.

Key responsibilities for the Senior Project Manager, Exhibitions:
- Manages effectively major exhibition projects of varied scale.
- Works collaboratively to develop full exhibition implementation schedules, manage dependencies, and promote cross-functional planning with all stakeholders.
- Assists in tracking exhibition project budgets, and actively manages related procurement functions.
- Completes traveling exhibition packages for distribution to prospective venues.
- Facilitates approvals of exhibition elements with appropriate VMFA staff and others as advised.
- Travels to prospective venues as assigned.
- Acts as spokesperson and representative of the exhibition, as needed.
- Other duties as assigned.

Preferred Qualifications
Exceptional project management experience in a museum, university or similar workplace.
Graduation from a college or university with major course work in Art History, Museum Studies, or related field or equivalent applicable training or experience.
