The Peter and Irene Ludwig Foundation, one of Germany’s leading private, international nonprofit art foundations, is seeking a Research Assistant focused on archival processing and digitization. This position offers the opportunity to work in a culturally rich environment and contribute to the development of a digitally accessible research archive.
Responsibilities
- Cataloguing and processing archival sources in the foundation’s archive database
- Supporting maintenance and expansion of the archive database
- Assisting in general foundation operations according to individual skills and foundation needs
- Participation in digitization projects and archival research initiatives
Eligibility Criteria
- University degree in Art History, Cultural History, or a related historical/cultural field (Diploma, Master, or Bachelor)
- Knowledge of 20th-century German art history and willingness to learn new topics
- Affinity with or experience in handling cultural objects, archival materials, and digital technologies (databases, digitization, online portals)
- Ideally, experience in archival research and cataloguing (especially required for Bachelor holders), preferably with Museum Plus or similar database systems
- Team-oriented, careful, independent, reliable, inventive, and structured approach to work
- Confident use of MS Office
- Excellent written and spoken German and English
