About the Program
The Summer School Becoming a Stone invites artists, curators, researchers, and theorists to explore material time, geological processes, and the ecological and philosophical dimensions of stone. Through lectures, artist talks, workshops, and a field trip, participants will engage with mineral formations not just as subjects, but as co-agents in the broader ecosystem. The program critically addresses extraction, sustainability, and the climate crisis from a contemporary art perspective.
Structure & Approach
Combining online and offline components, the program offers an interdisciplinary platform to reflect on deep time and non-human perspectives. Invited guests include:
- Giulia Damiani (artist, writer, Amsterdam)
- Julia Fidder (writer, curator, Netherlands-Finland)
- Jure Kirbiš (curator, UGM Maribor Art Gallery)
- Sára Märc (art researcher and curator, Prague)
