Talbot Gallery Curatorial Projects 2013

Talbot Gallery & Studios is pleased to announce a Curatorial Open Call, which invites individuals or collectives to submit a proposal for curating an exhibition at the Talbot Gallery. The successful proposal will form part of the 2013 programme at the Talbot Gallery.

The selected curator/s will receive a maximum support from the gallery and a wonderful opportunity to work with this dynamic space. Talbot Gallery will provide administrative and production support, design and mailing of the press release invitation and an opening reception.

The final version of the selected project will be developed and finalized in close collaboration with the team of Talbot Gallery, with the purpose of taking into account artists requirements and the architectural specificities of each location and local contexts of the venue.

The proposal should be thought taking into consideration Talbot Gallery’s exhibition spaces (floor plans available upon request) We encourage proposals to challenge curatorial and gallery practices.

The Talbot Gallery is currently unfunded but will endorse any application for funding from governing bodies, both national and international.

Closing date for applications is 1st November, 2012.

The submission should include:

. A short biography or curriculum vitae (1 page) and contact address of the curator/s.
. An exhibition/project outline explaining the purpose and concept (600 words maximum)
. Initial list of artists and a succinct description of their practice and recent exhibitions (100 words maximum)
. Images of the works to be included with suitable captions.
. Eventual production of new works
· Eventual architectural adaptation of gallery space

The aim of the Talbot Gallery Studios is to provide recent graduates and emerging artists working in all visual art disciplines with affordable studios and the resources which they need to sustain a professional art practice. We strive to provide a supportive creative environment in which artists can flourish while also building creative partnerships and initiatives with a range of organisations from other local and national arts organisations, to businesses and local authorities. Talbot Gallery Studios deliver a range of projects enabling diverse groups of people and individuals to access, participate in, learn through and develop a greater awareness of the visual arts.
