Job Summary
In this temporary role, you’ll oversee young people’s work experience, including placements in Eastbourne-based public spaces during the Turner Prize exhibition at Towner Gallery and the ‘Eastbourne Alive’ project. This initiative focuses on changing perceptions of Eastbourne and highlighting young people’s contributions to the town. Ideal for a graduate or early-career professional in Creative Arts or Youth Work, aged 18 and above. Manage student groups aged 16-19 in real-world Creative Industries Live Project. Students act as ‘Meet and Greet’ hosts at Eastbourne Railway Station and conduct art walking tours with Compass Community Arts.
Key Responsibilities
- Supervise students handling ‘Meet and Greet’ duties.
- Coordinate with Southern Rail for ‘Meet and Greet’ activities.
- Ensure student safety and well-being during placements.
- Distribute and manage resources like tablets for students.
- Perform on-site liaison with Southern Rail.
- Address health and safety concerns.
- Manage challenging conversations with the public.
- Report safeguarding concerns promptly.
- Ensure equal opportunities and manage access requirements.
- Attend bi-weekly meetings with the Talent Accelerator Team.
Tasks
- Record student attendance and handle fire/evacuation procedures.
- Provide daily task outlines and support as needed.
- Manage tablets for visitor surveys.
- Perform required on-site liaison.
- Address health and safety matters.
- Handle challenging conversations.
- Report safeguarding issues to Safeguarding Team.
- Manage equal opportunities and access requirements.
- Attend bi-weekly meetings.
Qualifications and Skills
- Knowledge of safeguarding and health and safety.
- Timetable planning for student placements.
- Experience with young people in public spaces.
- Commitment to inclusivity and Equal Opportunities.
- Experience with SENDs and task adaptation beneficial.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills.
- Proficient in digital literacy.
- Interest in cultural and creative industries.

- Confidence in handling challenging situations.
Desired Qualifications
- Ideally educated to degree level in relevant subject.
- Recent safeguarding training preferred.

- Willingness to undergo enhanced DBS check.
