Program Overview:
The Department of Contemporary Practices at SAIC, part of the first-year studio program, offers an interdisciplinary introduction to contemporary art and design for new students. The department integrates critical thinking, cultural competency, anti-racism, and social engagement. Faculty engage students through studio practices, critique, and community-building activities.
Responsibilities:
Faculty will teach first-year and transfer students, contribute to curriculum development, and maintain active professional practices. Additional duties include participating in governance and serving administrative roles within SAIC.
Qualifications:
- MFA or terminal degree preferred
- Experience teaching art/design-related courses at the undergraduate level
- Collaborative skills and commitment to diversity in arts education
Priority will be given to candidates with expertise in areas such as comics, animation, 3D modeling, interactive media, or artist books.
