Position Overview:
The Department of Art Education seeks two full-time, tenure-track Assistant Professors. One will focus on the Master’s of Art in Art Education (MAAE) program, which emphasizes teaching in museums, communities, and informal settings. The other will concentrate on the Bachelor of Fine Arts in Art Education (BFAAE) and Master of Arts in Teaching (MAT) programs, which prepare students for preK-12 licensure.
Responsibilities:
Teaching will include graduate seminars, core courses, and licensure classes, along with curriculum development and student advising. Administrative tasks may involve program oversight, community relations, and ISBE compliance for licensure programs. Faculty are expected to participate actively in professional forums and the SAIC community.
Qualifications:
- Terminal degree (PhD, EdD, or MFA) in art education or related field
- College or graduate-level teaching experience
- Strong foundation in contemporary art education fields like museum studies, community education, and digital technology
- Commitment to educational equity and inclusive practices
