A Multitude of Futures: Shaping Tomorrow
Exploring the Technological Divide
The world faces a profound divide between technological optimism and the impending dread of automation and artificial intelligence. While some believe in technology’s power to mitigate climate change and enhance human life, others fear the consequences of unchecked automation.
Challenging Determinism
How can we move beyond deterministic thinking about the future? Philosopher Yuk Hui proposes a radical shift in perspective. Instead of viewing science and technology as frontiers of discovery, he suggests “recosmicizing the Earth.” This involves embracing a techno-diversity, a multiplicity of cosmotechnics that redefine the relationships between the cosmos, morality, and technology.
Empowering Communities
Localities and communities hold the potential to reinvent their technological futures through collective projects and a diverse range of approaches.
