Travel Scholarship
Overview
CCA Islands offers the Travel Scholarship to support emerging talents in the fields of contemporary art and culture. This opportunity enables professionals to conduct research and creative projects in Japan.
Scholarship Benefits
The program provides JPY 200,000 for research expenses and a round-trip transportation fare to and from Japan. A round trip within Japan is available for residents. Preference goes to applicants under 35 years old. Scholars must stay in Japan for 4 to 8 weeks between September 1st, 2024, and March 31, 2025. At the end of their stay, they must report their research findings.
Eligibility and Application Process
Eligibility Criteria
Curators: Must have experience in contemporary art or a degree in art/art history. Architects/Designers: Should have experience running a private office or equivalent. Artists: There are no specific requirements. Age Limit: Applicants must be up to 35 years old.
Required Application Materials
For All Applicants
- A research proposal (max. 1000 words)
- A provisional research schedule
- A budget plan (excluding flight tickets)
- A CV
For Curators/Historians/Researchers
- A cover letter detailing recent work in art exhibitions, publications, and projects (up to 500 words).
For Artists/Designers/Architects
- Images of 5 to 10 works with captions, descriptions, titles, years, materials, and project descriptions. Submit no more than 10 images. For time-based media, limit submissions to a total of 5 minutes.
Deadline
Applications must be submitted by April 26, 2024.
