The Institute for Art History is looking to fill a position of university assistant with a doctorate (m/f/d)
40 hours/week limited to 6 years* from October 3rd, 2022
Your tasks
• Content focus in the field of art history of modern and contemporary art with a special focus on postcolonial studies and South and West Africa or Central and South America
• Participation in research projects of the professorship for modern and contemporary art, explicitly establishing and expanding the focus on art, art theory and postcolonial Studies
• Participation in interdisciplinary projects, especially in cooperation with the Institute for Musicology
• Research in the field of modern/contemporary art with the possibility of a habilitation
• Participation in the main research areas of the university
• Acquisition of third-party funds
• Independent teaching of courses
• Participation in organizational and administrative tasks of the institute
Your profile
• Excellent doctorate in art history/doctorate in the field of modern/contemporary art
• Excellent knowledge of the history, theory and methodology of modern/contemporary art with a focus on postcolonial studies
• International experience with proven research and/or teaching stays
• Excellent knowledge of the field interdisciplinary research
• Very good knowledge of English and another language relevant to Central and South America
• Good knowledge of German
• Knowledge of another foreign language relevant to your research area (desirable)
• Scientific publication activity
• High ability to work in a team, social skills, integrity
• Responsible and independent way of working, resilience and problem-solving skills
• High personal motivation for scientific excellence and ability to motivate and encourage employees and students
Our offer
The minimum wage under the collective agreement according to the classification given is € 4,061.50 gross/month (for full-time employment). This minimum wage may increase due to creditable previous service periods and other reference and remuneration components.
