As a member of the senior team of the M+ Curatorial Department, reporting to Deputy Director, Curatorial and Chief Curator (DDCCC), the role leads and manages the M+ Learning team while supporting the DDCCC in managing the daily operations and management of different teams within the Curatorial department, and ensuring smooth and close communications between the workforces within M+ and with other divisions within the Authority.
You will be responsible for:
- providing leadership, guidance, and inspiration for a team of staff focused on museum learning and with expertise across a broad range of demographics and subjects
- developing innovative public and learning programmes and ensuring their effective and timely deliveries
- the administrative and operational oversight of the Learning team including staff supervision and performance management;
- ensuring staff have the appropriate level of skills and training for tasks they are required to undertake;
- participating in regular check-ins and strategic planning with DDCCC, and also with senior management of M+ as necessary;
- organising regular Learning team meetings and participating in weekly and ad hoc meetings with the rest of the senior team; regular meetings as part of the M+ Senior Leadership team; and in the M+ Management team meetings as required;
- managing external partners and stakeholders in the community and maintaining a broad network of international contacts and colleagues;
- discussions and approvals of business travels and ERPs related to the activities in the respective team; and
- performing all related duties as needed and assigned by supervisor.
You should:
- possess a recognised university degree or relevant to museum education, fine arts, design, architecture, moving images, creative media, cultural management or equivalent;
- have at least 12 years of experience in curating, programme planning and development, project management of art and cultural events or festivals;
- have at least 5 years of experience in managing a team;
- have proven experience of creating and implementing strategic audience development related to the public such as family, youth, access groups and communities;
- have well-developed professional network, preferably good connection with curators from international museums;
- possess solid leadership, problem-solving and collaboration skills; and
- have excellent oral and written communication skills in English and Chinese.
