An exciting opportunity awaits you to become an Ambassador for the Singapore Pavilion at the 60th International Art Exhibition of La Biennale Di Venezia (Biennale Arte 2024). Singapore Art Museum (SAM) is seeking dedicated individuals to join the Ambassadors Programme and be a part of this esteemed international art exhibition.
Event Details:
The 60th International Art Exhibition of La Biennale di Venezia (Venice Biennale 2024) will run from April 20 to November 24, 2024. This world-renowned contemporary art event, established in 1895, is globally recognized for its significance.
About the Singapore Pavilion:
The Singapore Pavilion will be represented by interdisciplinary artist Robert Zhao and curator Haeju Kim. This marks Singapore’s 11th consecutive year participating in this esteemed international art exhibition.
Ambassador Programme:
We are selecting 12 Ambassadors who will play a pivotal role in the success of the Singapore Pavilion. The exhibition period will be divided into five periods, each lasting approximately seven weeks, with three Ambassadors assigned to each period. Ambassadors will have various responsibilities, including administrative and technical support at the Singapore Pavilion. They will manage the Pavilion’s reception, ensure its care and maintenance, and assist visitors. Responsibilities also include handling inquiries, distributing brochures, and occasionally conducting tours for VIP guests.
Periods:
- Period 1: April 10 – May 27, 2024 (7 weeks, 49 days)
- Period 2: May 28 – July 15, 2024 (7 weeks, 49 days)
- Period 3: July 16 – September 2, 2024 (7 weeks, 49 days)
- Period 4: September 3 – October 21, 2024 (7 weeks, 49 days)
- Period 5: October 22 – November 24, 2024 (4 weeks, 28 days)
Benefits for Selected Ambassadors:
SAM will provide accommodation in Venice, a daily stipend of €65 per day per Ambassador, and travel insurance to support your travel and living costs, ensuring your well-being and safety in Venice during your time there.
Ambassadors will be responsible for arranging their own travel to and from Venice, Italy.
Eligibility:
- Applicants must be Singaporean Citizens or Permanent Residents of Singapore.
- 18 years of age and above
- Proficient in English (speaking)
Selection:
Applications are evaluated by an internal SAM panel. Short-listed candidates will be invited for an interview. Applicants will be notified of the outcome via email approximately two months after the application deadline. Criteria include the ability to commit to the full program, interaction with visitors, relevant overseas experiences, a keen interest in contemporary art, and conversational proficiency in Italian or another European language (an advantage).
Application Deadline:
The deadline for applications is November 30, 2023, at 5 PM. Ensure all components of your application reach SAM before the deadline, as no extensions will be granted.
Terms & Conditions:
- Ambassadors must commit full-time during the entire 7-week period.
- No engagement in illegal or disparaging activities.
- Ambassadors represent the Singapore Pavilion and Singapore as cultural ambassadors.
- SAM reserves the right to select without disclosing reasons and to reject incomplete/late applications.
