Salary Range: $160,000–$200,000 annually, commensurate with experience
Powerhouse Arts (PHA), a dynamic nonprofit based in a purpose-built facility in Brooklyn, seeks a visionary Vice President of Curatorial and Arts Programs to lead and shape its curatorial and public programming. As a senior executive, the Vice President will oversee exhibitions, art fairs, and educational initiatives, while working closely with the President and leadership team to ensure alignment with PHA’s mission of creative expression and community impact.
Key Responsibilities
- Direct the vision, planning, and execution of exhibitions, fairs, and public programs
- Supervise and support a multi-level Programming team
- Curate 2–3 exhibitions annually or manage guest curators
- Collaborate with education, artist engagement, and fabrication teams
- Lead strategic and financial planning for programming initiatives
- Cultivate community relationships and represent PHA publicly
- Support fundraising in collaboration with Development
Candidate Profile
- 10+ years’ experience in curatorial leadership within arts organizations
- Expertise in contemporary art and the nonprofit/commercial art landscape
- Proven ability to lead teams and manage complex, multidisciplinary projects
- Strong communication skills, including writing, public speaking, and artist engagement
- Experience developing inclusive and community-responsive programming
- Commitment to diversity, equity, inclusion, and accessibility
- Active engagement with national and international art networks
