The Institute of Fine Arts of New York University invites applications for the Linda Nochlin Visiting Assistant Professorship, a three-year, non-tenure track position in the field of global post-1945/contemporary art with a focus on the art of women. Applicants must have earned a PhD and have at least three years of teaching experience at the time of application. We welcome applications representing diverse areas and media within contemporary art. We are especially interested in candidates whose work engages topics such as as gender and sexuality studies, global feminisms, and intersections of gender and race, and those who consider the work of contemporary women artists in relation to historical traditions.
Qualifications
The Institute of Fine Arts is a graduate facility serving MA and PhD students in art history, archaeology and fine art conservation. The course load is two courses per semester. The successful candidate will teach both graduate seminars and lectures, and contribute to NYU’s Core curriculum. Mentoring and advising MA and PhD students is an important component of this position. The position also includes providing faculty guidance for the Great Hall Exhibition Program, in which graduate student curators organize one or two exhibitions of the work of women artists per year.
