Visiting Fellowships & Artist Residencies – Modern Ancient Brown Foundation

Institution: Modern Ancient Brown Foundation
Deadline: 23 March 2026
Location: Detroit, USA

The Modern Ancient Brown Foundation (MABF) offers Visiting Fellowships and Artist Residencies in Studio Art and Critical Studies. The program supports scholars, artists, and writers from historically marginalized communities—specifically queer, Black, Indigenous, and people of color—working across performance, art writing, critical studies, curating, film, music, and creative writing.

For the 2026–2027 cycle, up to four residents and four fellows will be selected. The Visiting Fellowship is aimed at emerging curators and scholars engaged in rigorous research and writing practices, with an interest in creative disciplines and potential engagement with Detroit’s archives and cultural institutions. Fellows have the opportunity to explore interdisciplinary work, develop long-form writing projects, and connect with the Metro-Detroit arts and scholarly community.
