2019 Joseph F. McCrindle Curatorial Internship – European Paintings (Paid)
The Fine Arts Museums of San Francisco is seeking one current advanced undergraduate or graduate in Art History to intern in the European Paintings Department this summer.
GENERAL DESCRIPTION OF PROGRAM
The intern in the European Paintings Department will work closely with the curatorial staff. The intern will assist the paintings curators with daily administrative tasks and permanent collection research.
TYPICAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
The intern will work closely with curatorial staff on a major research initiative to review and update collection records. Typical duties may include in-depth library research, object file review, and editing. The intern may work closely with the staff in other museum departments including, but not limited to Registration, Information Technology, and Publications. The internship may also include general office needs within the European Paintings Department and attending and assisting with special programs.
SPECIFICS OF THE PROGRAM
Interns are required to commit a minimum of a summer-long internship (about 3-4 months). Previous experience in a curatorial department preferred. BA (or expected BA) in Art History required.
HOURS
Interns are required to work a minimum of 3-4 days per week (24-32 hours) from June through August/September, 2019.
COMPENSATION
Hourly Rate of Pay: $17.00
