This is a fabulous role for an in-depth and varied dive into the Art World. The person who fills this position should be organised, confident and personable.The candidate should demonstrate a natural initiative and be self motivating.
Responsible for overseeing multiple exhibition projects requiring organisation of artwork proposals, logistics, oversight of installations and technician team and relevant financial / system administration.
Knowledge of and interest in contemporary art would be an asset. The candidate should be efficient, organised with excellent attention to detail. Ability to multi-task and good communication skills are essential, and a hands-on approach, positive attitude and willingness to assist the team as and when needed.
You will be reporting to the MD and curator in running the day-to-day business, including preparing presentations to pitch exhibitions to our roster of renowned clients (luxury hotels, offices, casinos, corporates, restaurants and private member clubs). Efficient record keeping and maintaining the inventory and website of all the artworks/exhibitions and collating the relevant material to produce marketing literature that accompanies the artwork is required.
Responsibilities
- Artist liaison
- Client liaison (dealing with key decision makers at Client and Gallery level).
- Managing and overseeing all operational and logistical aspects, under the guidance of the Director and Curator.
- Installation preparation – organising transport, coordinating deliveries, sourcing packing materials, tools and relevant equipment.
- Overseeing installations – being on site to manage freelance install technicians.
- Condition checking artworks, photographing and documenting artwork installations.
- Creating wall plans / measurements for documentation of new spaces.
- Producing marketing materials such as labels, posters and wall plaques.
- Creating proposals for future projects and exhibitions.
- Administrative support for the team.
- Creating content for social media.
- Managing inventory, insurances and general administration.
Requirements
- Excellent communication skills
- Effectively plan and execute the delivery schedule of artworks to specific destinations, with individual requirements.
- Highly proficient at problem solving and time management.
- Ability to work under pressure when required.
- Excellent organisational skills – managing multiple projects, inventory management, artwork documentation.
- Google Suite knowledge
- Powerpoint/Keynote design
- Artlogic Web Management (can be learnt on the job)
- Social media marketing experience
