About the Role: Curating Scotland’s Renaissance and Early Modern History
Join the Department of Scottish History and Archaeology in the role of Curator/Senior Curator, focused on Renaissance and Early Modern History. You’ll be an integral part of the team responsible for managing Scottish collections dating from 1450 to 1750, displayed in the National Museum of Scotland. These collections represent pivotal moments in Scottish history, including the Reformation, Anglo-Scottish Union, Covenanting, and Jacobite challenges. Your role involves researching and interpreting these collections, guiding the historical narrative of Scotland during this period, and shaping future collection and research strategies to align with NMS’s priorities.
Key Responsibilities:
- Utilize your expertise in the history and culture of Renaissance and early modern Scotland.
- Collaborate with museum colleagues to research, document, and interpret the social, economic, political, religious, and cultural aspects of this period in Scotland.
- Contribute to the broader understanding of Renaissance and Early Modern History within the historical, geographical, and cultural context of Scotland.
