Purpose
The Exhibitions Manager plays a crucial role in organizing and managing specific temporary exhibitions. This includes leading high-profile international loan exhibitions and any related touring programs. The role involves extensive collaboration with both external and internal stakeholders, negotiation of contracts, budget management, and overseeing the installation and deinstallation of exhibitions.
Responsibilities
Exhibition Partnerships and Relationship Management
- Develop and manage relationships with external stakeholders such as curators, artists, and partners.
- Negotiate contracts with national and international venues, curators, and designers.
Exhibition Organization
- Coordinate detailed arrangements for exhibitions with the support of curators.
- Handle line management duties as assigned.
- Secure formal loan agreements and manage the logistics of loans.
- Ensure projects adhere to schedules and budgets.
- Supervise the installation and dismantling of exhibitions.
- Work with various departments to facilitate exhibition preparation.
- Assist in departmental planning, budgeting, and research.
Administration
- Manage all administrative aspects of exhibitions, including contracts and documentation.
- Conduct provenance checks and manage risk associated with exhibitions.
- Respond to inquiries from lenders and stakeholders.
Experience and Skills Required
- Minimum 4 years of experience in exhibition organization, including loan administration and international tours.
- Knowledge of modern museum practices and registrarial practice.
- Skills in contract management and budgeting.
- Ability to work under pressure and maintain attention to detail.
- Strong interpersonal, communication, and computer skills.
