Compensation
- Curator Fee: $2,000 CAD plus travel and accommodations if needed
- Writing Fee: $2,000 CAD for a curatorial essay
- Curatorial Budget: $3,500, covering travel, accommodations, ground transportation if needed, one meal, and technical support for artists
Role Overview
Debaser and the Indigenous Curatorial Collective (ICCA) offer two curatorial projects for emerging Indigenous curators at the Pique festivals in summer and fall 2024. These single-day events take place at the Arts Court in downtown Ottawa, on Anishinaabe Algonquin territory. The role welcomes curators from any artistic medium and offers various spaces for different types of presentations, including exhibitions, performances, screenings, and workshops. Selected curators will also write a critical essay on their project, published by ICCA.
Candidate Profile
Ideal candidates are First Nations, Inuit, or Métis, with strong connections to the artistic community and experience in managing artistic projects. Candidates should be self-motivated with excellent communication skills, problem-solving abilities, and a willingness to explore new ideas.

Pique, initiated in 2021, is a quarterly event that transforms the Arts Court building into a vibrant celebration of music, art, and multimedia presentations, accessible to all and open for any contribution.
