Introduction
Sumac Space–Art Practices of the Middle East, in collaboration with hinterland, is excited to announce an open call for artists, curators, and research bodies. This call invites participants to address contemporary challenges in the socio-political environment of the region. Selected works and projects will be exhibited in Berlin or Vienna.

Event Details
The first chapter of Confluencing, a series of 5-day exhibitions, will start in July 2024. These exhibitions will occur throughout the year at venues in Neukölln, Berlin, or hinterland, Vienna. An international jury will select the finalists, and the Sumac team will curate the exhibitions. These events are an extension of Sumac’s digital platform and will feature a rich tapestry of artistic expressions including music, images, and poetry.
Submission Guidelines
Interested parties should submit their entries by 12pm, June 16, 2024. A shortlist of projects will be announced on June 30, 2024. Entries must be in English and submitted as a single PDF document to sumacspace@gmail.com with the subject line ‘Confluencing + Applicant full name’. The document should include a brief biography (up to 200 words), CV, portfolio, project title, and a detailed project description (about 450 words). Links to complete video works should be included if applicable. Please do not send original artworks.
Additional Information
The realization of this project relies on in-kind contributions from the community, including jury members and the teams at Sumac Space and hinterland. While financial support for production, travel, and accommodations is not available, discussions on potential resources for financial assistance are welcome for selected applicants.
