Job Summary
Seeking a Curator to join Somerset House Studios. This role involves working across art forms to support artists and deliver a unique, year-round public programme. The Curator will combine curatorial and artist development experience with a passion for contemporary culture.
Key Responsibilities
Programme Development
- Collaborate with the Director and Programmer to deliver a diverse year-round programme.
- Shape a public programme aligned with the artistic vision of the Studios.
- Manage project proposals and oversee project delivery within budget and time constraints.
- Work with guest curators and artists to realize their visions.
- Collaborate with the marketing team to engage diverse audiences.
Artist Development
- Develop a public-facing Artist Development programme.
- Lead artist development sessions with resident artists.
- Draw opportunities from resident artists and alumni.
Management
- Plan and facilitate programming meetings.
- Line manage the Studios Programmer.
- Manage programme proposals and budgets.
- Collaborate with cross-departmental stakeholders.
- Maintain relationships with resident artists.
- Support funding applications and reporting.
Skills and Expertise
Essential
- Proven track record in curating and delivering multi-artform programmes.
- Experience in artist support and development.
- Budget management experience.
- Understanding of technical production in live or exhibition environments.
Desirable
- Curatorial experience within visual arts.
- Networks within the wider arts sector.
- Experience managing teams for project delivery.
