Overview
Para Site announces the 2024 Workshops for Emerging Arts Professionals and a one-day Public Sharing event in late September 2024. This seventh edition will engage emerging curators, writers, critics, researchers, and other arts professionals from Hong Kong and beyond in closed-door workshops, roundtable discussions, and field trips.
Program Details
The 8-day intensive program offers a forum for problem-solving, collective learning, and reflection on contemporary art’s evolving challenges. Participants will reflect on their practices through intersectional perspectives and develop new commitments for meaningful, sustainable change. By connecting diverse practices and perspectives, the program aims to catalyze change and offer new exploration paths in cultural work.
Commitment to Inclusivity
This program emphasizes creating an inclusive, diverse, and equitable art ecosystem. With support from the S. H. Ho Foundation, a limited number of scholarships will support emerging arts professionals from the Asia-Pacific region.
Application Requirements
- Written Responses: Two prompts (max. 400 words each):
- “How do small acts contribute to progressive structural changes in the art world?”
- “Describe a transformative institutional practice in the arts and culture space that inspires new learning and collaboration.”
- Project Description: A description (max. 300 words) with relevant documentation of a project or work initiated by the applicant.
- Curriculum Vitae: A CV (not exceeding three pages) detailing relevant work experience.
Application Process
- Submit all application materials in one PDF document, including a table of contents, saved as [Last Name]_[First Name].pdf.
- Send the PDF to application@para-site.art by 19 August 2024, 10 am HKT. Use ‘2024 Workshops for Emerging Arts Professionals’ as the subject line.
- Notification of results will occur in late August 2024.
- Incomplete applications will not be considered.
General Information
- Workshops will be conducted in English.
- No tuition fee. Participants must cover their travel and accommodation expenses.
- Para Site will cover local transportation for scheduled site visits.
- Scholarships for accommodation and travel are available. Include a reference letter if applying for a scholarship.
