Transform Festival is an international performance event in Leeds, seeking eight young individuals aged 18-25 who are passionate about the arts and interested in a career in this sector. This opportunity allows participants to learn, develop new skills, and influence the program of a major international festival set for October 2025.
The Role
Young Curators will:
- Learn festival curation from industry professionals.
- Experience new performances and explore diverse art forms.
- Develop festival themes and ideas.
- Identify and collaborate with international artists.
- Shape a participatory project involving young performers and co-creators for the October 2025 festival.
This role offers a unique chance to gain professional experience, develop new skills in festival curation, and build international connections within the arts industry.
About the Candidates
Ideal candidates should:
- Be aged 18-25 and living in the Leeds City Region.
- Have an interest in live performance (theatre, dance, live art, music/spoken word).
- Be enthusiastic about organizing events (no prior experience required).
- Be available for weekly evening meetings at Transform’s office in Leeds and some home-based research.
This opportunity is open to all passionate individuals, regardless of prior experience or education in the arts.
Commitment
The program’s first phase runs from September to December 2024, with a possibility of extending until February 2026, depending on funding. The commitment involves weekly 2-hour evening meetings.
Participation Details
- Introductory Session: Tuesday, 24 September 2024, 6-8pm
- Weekly Meetings: September – December 2024 (exact dates/times to be agreed)
- Pay: £12 per hour
- Location: Meetings held in a physically accessible space in Leeds
Sessions will be facilitated by experienced members of the Transform team and external industry professionals.

Additional Support and Information
An informal online information session will be held on Wednesday, 28 August 2024, from 6-6.30pm with Producer Ema Boswood. This session is optional and will not affect the application outcome. Sign up is required to access the Zoom link.
