Salary: £20,000 – £24,000 per annum (dependent on experience)
Probation Period: 3 months

Ruup & Form is seeking a proactive and enthusiastic Gallery Assistant to join its small, dedicated team. This role offers a hands-on opportunity to work closely with the gallery director, supporting administration, social media, online sales, and website management. The ideal candidate will be highly organized, personable, and passionate about contemporary art, craft, and design, with the ability to multitask in a dynamic environment.
Key Responsibilities
Front-of-House
- Serve as the first point of contact, welcoming visitors and responding to calls and emails.
- Provide information about exhibitions, artists, and the gallery program.
Digital Management
- Maintain and update the website with news, exhibitions, and fairs.
- Manage artist pages, including images, biographies, and CVs.
Exhibition & Event Support
- Assist in exhibition planning, including scheduling, production, transportation, and installation.
- Support private views, special events, and press coordination.
Editorial & Research
- Assist with research and writing for press releases, exhibition texts, artist biographies, and applications.
- Create and manage PDF documents, such as artist overviews and sales offers.
- Organize exhibition photography and maintain the digital archive.
Database & Space Management
- Maintain artwork and contact databases.
- Ensure the gallery space is well-presented and fully operational.
Requirements
- Experience in a similar role or a setting with transferable skills.
- Strong administrative and logistical skills.
- Proficiency in Adobe InDesign, Photoshop, Microsoft Excel, and Word.
- Familiarity with database platforms such as ArtLogic; knowledge of Artsy, Mailchimp, and Canva is beneficial.
- Knowledge of contemporary art and enthusiasm for working with artists.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with a keen eye for detail.
- Ability to manage time effectively and adapt in a fast-paced environment.
- Capable of working independently while being a strong team player.
- Willingness to learn and take initiative.
- Experience in handling, packing, and installing artworks is an advantage.
