Scientific Traineeship (wissenschaftliche/r Volontär/in) – Hessen Kassel Heritage, Kassel, Germany

Salary: Approx. 50% of TV-H pay scale E13 level 1 (public sector salary scale)
Hessen Kassel Heritage manages cultural heritage in the former Landgraviate of Hessen-Kassel, including five museum sites and historic castles and parks such as the UNESCO World Heritage Bergpark Wilhelmshöhe.
The institution offers a 2-year scientific traineeship in the Collections department, initially working with the Graphic Collection and later with the 19th–21st century Art Collection (Neue Galerie).
Responsibilities:
- Contribute to an exhibition on “Dürer in the Landgravial Collection” (autumn 2026)
- Participate in redesigning the Neue Galerie’s permanent exhibition
- Classic collection tasks, including scientific cataloguing in the museum database and its maintenance
- Educational and mediation tasks
Requirements:
- Completed Master’s degree (or higher) in Art History
- Excellent German language skills (spoken and written) and good English skills
- Strong IT skills, especially MS Office and experience with databases
- Team-oriented, structured, and with broad interest in art from late medieval to contemporary
