The British Museum is seeking a Curator to contribute to the delivery of its Masterplan, focusing on the redevelopment of the Western Range—the Museum’s largest renovation project. This includes rebuilding and restoring galleries housing major collections from the ancient Mediterranean, Egypt, and the ancient Middle East, and developing content for new permanent galleries, interim displays, and pilot projects.
Responsibilities
- Lead curatorial work for the Western Range and Masterplan projects as part of a central project team
- Develop research plans, collections development proposals, and content for future galleries and interim displays
- Collaborate with cross-Museum teams to plan and deliver pilot projects and public programming
- Engage local, national, and international partners and stakeholders in content development
- Support fundraising and stakeholder management
- Share best practices and curatorial expertise across the Museum
Candidate Profile
- Experience curating temporary exhibitions or gallery refurbishments
- Experience engaging the public through digital media, programmes, or broadcast projects
- Experience with collaborative curatorial or co-creation projects
- Strong people and project management skills with excellent communication and attention to detail
- Ability to present publicly in an engaging manner
