Chapter invites applications for an Assistant Curator (Visual Art) to support the Senior Curator in the delivery of an ambitious programme of visual arts exhibitions, residencies, public engagement, and community projects. The role involves research, preparation, delivery, and documentation of visual arts programming, with active collaboration across curatorial, engagement, and marketing teams.
Role Responsibilities
- Curate and deliver exhibitions, residencies, and public engagement programmes in visual arts
- Support artists with production, commissions, and professional development
- Manage budgets, contracts, and logistics for exhibitions and events
- Maintain compliance with regulations, health & safety, and operational procedures
- Create content for visitor guides, wall texts, learning resources, and digital communications
- Build and maintain relationships with artists, freelance contributors, audiences, and communities
- Contribute to fundraising, funding reports, and income-generating activities
- Promote equitable, inclusive, and accessible arts experiences
Eligibility Criteria
- Knowledge of and enthusiasm for contemporary art
- Minimum two years’ experience in a curatorial or production role with artists
- Excellent organisation, communication, and relationship-building skills
- Ability to prioritise tasks, meet deadlines, and work independently and collaboratively
- Competence in Microsoft Office, and preferably Adobe Creative Suite (Photoshop, InDesign)
