The British Museum is seeking a Curator for Island Southeast Asia (fixed-term, 1 year) to research, document, and make publicly accessible the Island SE Asia collections. The role involves collection digitisation, engagement with communities, embassies, and museum supporters, and contributing to museum strategies and displays both on- and off-site.

Responsibilities
- Undertake and fundraise for research projects on the Island Southeast Asia collection.
- Document, digitise, and enhance accessibility of the collection via publications, digital platforms, displays, and broadcasts.
- Lead collection documentation upgrades and support improvements for future displays.
- Collaborate with colleagues, other institutions, and relevant stakeholders.
- Assist in departmental administration and respond to public enquiries.
- Align work with museum priorities and strategies.
Candidate Profile
- BA/BSc or equivalent in South East Asian art history, history, or material culture.
- Experience in research, fieldwork, and publications on Island Southeast Asian topics.
- Some experience managing collections and handling Island SE Asian material.
- Experience with management of people, projects, or budgets.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to work collaboratively as part of a team.
