The Design Museum seeks an Exhibitions Coordinator to support the delivery of its in-house and touring exhibitions. The role involves managing exhibition administration, coordinating transport and installation, liaising with venues and lenders, and supporting interpretation and display. The post holder will also assist with research for potential tour venues, maintain documentation, and ensure compliance with customs and museum procedures.
Employment Details
- Contract Type: Permanent, Full-time
- Salary: Up to £26,160 per year (dependent on experience)
- Hours: 35 hours/week, hybrid working (60% on-site, 40% remote)
- Holidays: 25 days pro-rata + Christmas Eve (museum closed)
Key Responsibilities
- Manage exhibition and touring documentation, including loan agreements and packing lists.
- Coordinate transport, installation, and de-rig of exhibitions at the museum and touring venues.
- Maintain customs paperwork and ensure compliance with temporary import/export regulations.
- Support internal communication and liaise with external partners and contractors.
- Participate in departmental roles such as Volunteer Champion, Health & Safety Champion, and Best Museum Practice Champion.
Eligibility Criteria / Person Specification
- Experience in a museum or gallery environment with practical exhibition delivery.
- Knowledge of object management, condition reporting, loans, and transport procedures.
- Strong organisational, administrative, time management, and financial skills.
- Proficiency in MS Word, Excel, Outlook, and other office software.
- Excellent interpersonal, communication, and problem-solving skills.
- Flexible, collaborative, and able to work under pressure.
