Carlos/Ishikawa is a leading contemporary art gallery representing international artists and engaging closely with institutional and curatorial networks. The Position
Carlos/Ishikawa seeks a full-time Director focused primarily on institutional relations and secondarily on sales.
The role involves strategic outreach, building and maintaining relationships with curators and museums, developing client networks, and supporting all aspects of the gallery’s day-to-day operations.
Working hours are Wednesday to Saturday, 10am–6:30pm, as part of the gallery’s self-trialled 4-day week (100-80-100 model) — 100% pay for 80% time, with a commitment to full productivity. Additional hours may be required during art fairs, openings, and events.
Responsibilities

Institutional and curatorial relations (outreach, strategy, and presentation documents)

Client management and development of client relationships

Sales and follow-up

Contact database management

Event staging and management

Assisting with artist studio management and artist care

General organisational support across all aspects of gallery operations
Candidate Profile

Minimum of seven years’ professional experience

Proven track record in sales and museum projects

Highly organised, emotionally intelligent, and systems-oriented

Able to work independently while contributing to a collaborative environment

Strong ability to think both strategically and operationally, anticipate needs, and connect artists with relevant institutional or curatorial contexts
