Lancaster Arts seeks an experienced freelancer to provide curatorial and logistical support for the Spring 2026 exhibition Serial Dissenter with sculptor Tony Heaton OBE. The role supports the gallery team during the interim period following the departure of the Curator, focusing on project management, artist liaison, and exhibition installation.
Key Responsibilities
- Liaise with the artist and with museums/sites holding works.
- Manage loan agreements, transportation, and installation of artworks.
- Collaborate with the Assistant Curator and artist on installation plans.
- Oversee interpretation panels, communications, and marketing.
- Develop and deliver an accessibility plan for the exhibition.
- Explore site-specific participatory interventions on campus.
- Participate in installation and deinstallation with the gallery team.
Timeframe
- Main period of work: January 2026
- Installation: week of 09 February 2026
- Exhibition dates: 16 February – 27 March 2026 (to be confirmed)
- Induction day: December 2025
Person Specification
- Proven track record in curatorial roles in contemporary art programmes.
- Experience working directly with artists on exhibitions.
- Experience managing loans and transportation of artworks.
- Ability to work collaboratively within a multi-disciplinary team.
- Experience developing participatory engagement strategies.
- Deep understanding of accessibility in exhibition contexts.
