Wellcome Trust is seeking an Engagement and Participation Producer – Communities to research, co-develop and deliver a new programme of engagement activities with its Priority Audiences, including d/Deaf, disabled, neurodivergent and racially minoritised people. Working within the Live Engagement and Participation team, the role focuses on co-designed cultural programming centred on lived experience, community needs, and equitable collaboration.
Key Responsibilities
- Research, co-develop and deliver a cross-generational programme of engagement activities for Wellcome Collection’s Priority Audiences.
- Develop an equitable approach to working with communities, alongside the Engagement and Participation Lead.
- Build and manage relationships with internal and external collaborators, ensuring smooth delivery of activities.
- Budget for and manage freelance facilitators, consultants and other contractors; procure necessary resources.
- Integrate evaluation and reflection into projects according to team and departmental practice.
- Contribute to a diverse and inclusive organisational culture and collaborate across departments.
- Design and implement an annual programme within the new “Gatherings” strand, supporting storytelling, collaboration and community engagement around overlooked health topics.
Skills & Experience
- Significant experience developing and delivering collaborative and co-developed programmes for audiences within cultural, community-embedded or heritage settings.
- Ability to budget, brief and manage freelance artists, facilitators, consultants and contractors.
- Strong experience building relationships across all organisational levels and presenting ideas effectively.
- Experience using varied approaches to engage audiences and communities (e.g., museums, libraries, archives, galleries or cultural centres).
- Experience collaborating equitably with people who can represent the views of Priority Audiences.
- Experience working with a broad range of collaborators including artists, activists, community organisations, experts by experience, researchers and writers.
- Proven skills in project and budget management, planning, implementation and review.
