NTMoFA International Residency Program 2026

The National Taiwan Museum of Fine Arts (NTMoFA), Taiwan, invites international arts professionals to apply for its 2026 International Residency Program. The initiative fosters international exchange and encourages research-based engagement with NTMoFA’s collections, Taiwanese art history, Taiwanese artists, and Technology Art.

The program provides access to the museum’s institutional resources, library, and, conditionally, collection storage facilities. NTMoFA particularly welcomes proposals that critically engage with its holdings and the broader context of Taiwanese art and culture.

Residency Format

  • Residency period: September 3 – October 22, 2026

  • Duration: 30–50 days (mandatory within the residency window)

  • 1–2 selected residents + 2 alternates

  • Two-stage selection process: written review and online interview

Support includes:

  • One round-trip economy-class airfare

  • Airport–museum local transportation

  • Insurance reimbursement (up to NTD 5,000)

  • Daily allowance:

    • NTD 5,350 (general researchers)

    • NTD 7,130 (associate professors)

    • NTD 8,915 (professors)

  • Free studio space

  • Access to the NTMoFA Art Library

  • Conditional access to collection storage facilities

Eligibility Criteria

Applicants must:

  • Be non–Republic of China (Taiwan) nationals

  • Not be currently enrolled students

  • Have at least five years of relevant professional experience

  • Demonstrate familiarity with NTMoFA, its collections, and Taiwanese art and culture

  • Not have received NTMoFA residency support within the past two years

  • Possess basic communication ability in English or Chinese

Programme Requirements

Selected residents are required to:

  • Organize at least one public program or presentation every 15 days (e.g., workshop, lecture, open studio)

  • Deliver one final public presentation before the end of the residency

  • Submit a final report within 14 days of completion (minimum 3,000 Chinese characters or 1,500 English words), granting NTMoFA usage rights for educational, research, publication, and public purposes
