Southwark Park Galleries is seeking a Gallery Coordinator – Audiences to support the delivery of its exhibitions, marketing, communications, and visitor services. The organisation operates across two venues and a community garden in Southwark Park, southeast London, and is recognised for commissioning experimental contemporary art and fostering community engagement.
The role works closely with the Deputy Director, Gallery Manager, Public Engagement Manager, and the Gallery Coordinator – Programmes. It combines audience development, marketing, administration, and front-of-house coordination within a small and collaborative team.
Position Details
- Contract: Part-time (4 days per week), 9-month fixed term
- Start date: April 1, 2026
- Working hours: 32 hours per week (including one weekend day during exhibitions; some evening work with TOIL)
- Salary: £18,470 PAYE + pension contribution (£30,784 pro rata)
- Annual leave: 17 days (28 pro rata), excluding bank holidays
- Probation period: 2 months
- Reporting to: Deputy Director
- Line management: None
Key Responsibilities
Audience Development & Marketing
- Manage marketing schedules across print and digital platforms
- Oversee and create social media content
- Update website, newsletters, and online listings
- Produce marketing materials and liaise with designers
- Support event planning (previews, receptions, commercial hires)
- Assist with data capture, visitor questionnaires, and Arts Council England reporting
- Coordinate photography, image credits, and distribution
Gallery Administration & Visitor Services
- Manage front desk operations during exhibition openings
- Support supervision and rota management of Gallery Assistants
- Maintain high standards of hospitality and artwork safety
- Manage shop inventory (Shopify), sales targets, and Own Art enquiries
- Field public enquiries and promote donations and mailing list sign-ups
- Produce weekly reports and assist with administrative systems
- Contribute to guided tours
- Act as Fire Marshal (training provided)
Eligibility Criteria
Essential requirements include:
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with strong editing and proofreading ability
- Experience with web and digital content, including social media platforms
- Administrative and technical skills, including Adobe Creative Suite
- Ability to multitask and prioritise
- Interest in contemporary art and interdisciplinary programming
- Strong professionalism and customer care skills
