The Scottish Gallery, one of the UK’s leading independent galleries for modern and contemporary art, is seeking a Junior Registrar for a 24-month full-time fixed-term contract. This hands-on role offers experience across registration, exhibitions, and the day-to-day operations of a commercial gallery. The Junior Registrar will work closely with the Senior Registrar and Directors, supporting artwork management, client engagement, and exhibition delivery.
Role Responsibilities

Register artworks and applied art in FileMaker Pro database

Upload works to the gallery website (WordPress)

Assist with exhibitions: hanging, packing, display, photography

Support front-of-house, client service, and online orders

Assist with invoices, price lists, blogs, and publications

Help manage mailings, events, and gallery logistics
Person Specification

Essential:

History of Art degree or similar

Proficient with databases, websites, and IT

Strong organisational skills, attention to detail

Confident, professional communication skills

Ability to work independently and collaboratively

Previous gallery experience

Knowledge of social media, events, copyright, or data protection

Interest in modern and contemporary art

Salary: £27,500 per annum

28 days annual leave (including public holidays)
