This role sits within the Collection & Research team and supports the delivery of an ambitious international touring exhibitions programme. The programme enables works from Scotland’s national collection to be presented to audiences worldwide through curated, bespoke exhibitions.
The Assistant Curator will contribute to the development, coordination, and delivery of touring exhibitions, working closely with internal teams and external partners. The role requires strong organisational skills, curatorial awareness, and the ability to manage multiple deadlines within a structured international programme.
Responsibilities
- Support the delivery of the international touring exhibitions programme
- Assist in developing bespoke exhibitions from the national collection
- Conduct curatorial research and contribute to exhibition planning
- Coordinate with internal teams across Collection & Research
- Liaise with external partners and international stakeholders
- Maintain clear communication on project progress and issues
- Ensure deadlines and project timelines are met
- Contribute to documentation and exhibition development processes
Requirements
- Professional experience in a museum, gallery, or heritage collection environment
- Strong organisational and time management skills
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively
- Clear and professional communication skills
- Experience building relationships with internal and external stakeholders
- Art-historical knowledge or specialist area of interest
