arebyte Digital Art Centre is a London-based institution dedicated to contemporary digital art, supporting artists working with emerging technologies such as AI, game engines, and virtual environments. The programme includes exhibitions, residencies, and international collaborations with leading cultural institutions.
This Exhibition Producer role supports the delivery of a major group exhibition featuring nine international media artists, covering all phases from production planning through installation, opening, and deinstallation.
About the Role
The Exhibition Producer is responsible for translating curatorial and conceptual exhibition plans into a fully deliverable production framework, ensuring all technical, logistical, and budgetary elements are executed on time and to a high standard.
This is a freelance, project-based role requiring close collaboration with the Head of Programmes, Technical Manager, artists, fabricators, and external suppliers across a complex digital exhibition environment.
Responsibilities
- Lead end-to-end exhibition production from planning to deinstallation
- Develop and manage detailed production schedules and milestones
- Coordinate fabrication, technical delivery, and installation planning
- Manage budgets, cost tracking, purchase orders, and invoices
- Organise and lead production meetings and cross-team communication
- Oversee risk assessments and front-of-house operational planning
- Translate exhibition concepts into technical and fabrication requirements
- Research materials, production methods, and technical solutions
- Liaise with fabricators, suppliers, and contractors to obtain quotes and ensure feasibility
- Coordinate AV, digital systems, and immersive installation components
- Manage artwork transport, logistics, and safe handling procedures
- Schedule installation and deinstallation teams and freelance contractors
- Arrange travel and accommodation for artists and contributors when required
- Prepare operational documents including run sheets and installation plans
- Ensure compliance with health and safety requirements across all phases
- Maintain accurate project documentation and financial tracking
Candidate Profile
- Minimum 5 years’ experience in exhibition production or complex cultural projects
- Strong project management and production scheduling skills
- Experience working with fabricators, technical teams, and contractors
- Solid understanding of exhibition-making processes (fabrication, installation, logistics)
- Experience managing budgets and multi-stakeholder workflows
- Strong organisational and communication skills
- Ability to work independently in a fast-paced, solutions-oriented environment
- Working knowledge of AV systems and digital technologies
- Interest in digital art, new media, and experimental exhibition practices
- Desirable: experience with immersive/digital installations and sustainable production
