DSRA 2027: Advanced Diploma in Art Research at the École supérieure d’art Annecy Alpes

École supérieure d’art Annecy Alpes (ESAAA) is inviting two artists, designers or curator-researchers to join its DSRA, an advanced, three-year programme in practice-based art research.

The programme supports participants in developing individual research while taking part in a wider community of artists, researchers, teachers and students. Research may involve studio practice, seminars, workshops, residencies, publications, exhibitions and other forms of artistic production.

Research Focus

ESAAA encourages proposals rooted in situated and ecosophical practices: approaches attentive to places, environments, collective life and relationships between people and other living systems. Projects should connect with the school’s research directions and explore how research through practice can generate new forms of writing and presentation.

Participants are expected to share the development of their work with students and the wider school community. They must be able to visit ESAAA monthly and take part in its research activities. Opportunities to support students or propose educational and research formats may also be available.

Eligibility

The call is open to artists, designers, curators and art critics already active in contemporary artistic practice. Applicants must hold a DNSEP, a Master’s-level qualification or an equivalent degree. There is no age limit.

Candidates should be able to work independently, collaborate with others and communicate in French or English.

Programme Support

The DSRA runs from January 2027 to December 2029. A €5,000 annual research grant, including production costs, is paid in the first two years. In the third year, this funding is directed towards the final diploma project and assessment costs.

The programme also provides eligible travel support of up to €1,500 per year, documentation costs of up to €150 per year, and fees of up to €1,500 per year for teaching activities at ESAAA. Participants can access school facilities and resources for their projects. Shared accommodation in Annecy may be available depending on the school’s capacity.
