The Burgas 2032 Foundation invites creative and artistic proposals for the cultural programme supporting Burgas’ bid for European Capital of Culture 2032. Magazia’32 will serve as a symbolic “treasury of ideas,” generating, storing, and developing artistic responses to local, regional, and European cultural challenges.
Programme Stages
Stage 1 – Discussions and Training (Feb–Mar 2026)
- Series of round tables and practical workshops called Café Europe
- Open-format conversations for participants to reflect on assigned topics and propose additional ideas
- Workshops led by international experts focusing on European cultural practices and the development of content for the European Capital of Culture initiative
Indicative Schedule:
- 27 Feb 2026 – School pupils, students, and young people up to 29 years old
- 13 Mar 2026 – Representatives of state, municipal, private, NGOs, educational institutions, and individuals in culture, education, and sports
- 27 Mar 2026 – Business community, innovation ecosystem, entrepreneurs, tourism, and municipal stakeholders
Stage 2 – Submission of Concept Proposals (10 Feb – 5 May 2026)
- Submit basic conceptual proposals for artistic projects, creative interventions, educational activities, and cultural practices
- Application includes description of project parameters, collaborators, alignment with European cultural values, sustainability, and potential for further development

- No One Left Behind – Inclusion, cultural participation, education, employment, and the future of work
- From Nature to Culture to Nature – Symbiosis between people, the city, and the surrounding environment
- Liquid Border(s) – Understanding and reimagining borders, European identity, and coastal dynamics
- InSitu – InSites – InSights – Heritage, identity, industrial and port legacy, urban transformation
- Guardians of the Soul – Cross-cutting theme uniting all activities, ensuring long-term cultural impact beyond 2032
