Introduction
kültüř gemma! is a project that fosters the artistic work of migrants and BIPOC. The program annually awards free work scholarships and fellowships to cultural institutions in Vienna. It provides financial and non-material support for individual projects and serves as a cultural networking platform.
Goal
The program aims to normalize migrant contributions within the predominantly white cultural scene and reflect the city’s cultural diversity.
MAK – Museum of Applied Arts
Founded over 150 years ago, the MAK – Museum of Applied Arts initially focused on preserving valuable objects and training in crafts and aesthetics. Today, the museum’s collection includes applied art, design, architecture, and contemporary art. The MAK examines the role of design, art, and architecture in society and responds to 21st-century challenges. It also strives to democratize access to its offerings for all people, regardless of their background.
