Kalmar konstmuseum is seeking an Art and Partnerships Lead to develop its regional work, establish collaborations and lead projects that strengthen the visual arts sector. Reporting to the Museum Director and joining the museum’s management team, the postholder will work both strategically and operationally, taking projects from initial ideas and funding through to delivery and evaluation.

Founded in 1942, Kalmar konstmuseum presents regional and international contemporary art and cares for a collection of more than 3,000 works. It is operated by Kalmar konstförening, which also runs Designarkivet, an archive dedicated to Swedish design history.

Responsibilities

The postholder will develop collaborations with artists, art associations, institutions, municipalities and other partners to support visual arts and design across the region. They will initiate projects that improve conditions for artists and arts professionals, identify funding opportunities and prepare applications to regional, national and international funders.

The role also involves building partnerships with the public sector and businesses, and creating opportunities for professional exchange through seminars, discussions and networks. The Art and Partnerships Lead will represent the museum regionally and nationally and contribute to its strategic development.

Candidate profile

Applicants should have an academic qualification in art, culture or another relevant field, a good knowledge of Sweden’s arts and cultural sector, and experience developing and delivering arts activities. Experience securing funding for arts and culture is also required.

Regional arts development, work with artists and arts organisations, business sponsorship and international collaborations are advantages. The museum seeks someone who can build relationships, develop ideas and manage projects independently.

The position is based in Kalmar and requires a driving licence.
